Civilian Aluminum Wheels with Exposed Lugnuts

Ford: 1/2 - 20 x 1 1/2 Thread 1/2-20 / Hex Size 13/16" / Length 1-15/32" / Seat Angle 60 deg Stainless Steel Cover Troublesome lugnut on older vehicles. Rust develops in between the steel lugnut and the chrome cover after several years. The lugnut becomes oversized due to rust-jacking and gets stuck in socket when attempting to remove lugnut. Then have to use pliers to get lugnut out of the socket, and are left with unattractive brown rusty lugnut without the chrome cover.

You can use these on a crownvic, but you'll want to replace all 20 lugnuts on the car so that you have the same size lugnut on each wheel. Having to use different sized socket wrenches on different lugnuts is likely to result in damaged lugnuts, damaged socket wrenches, and the tire service shop employees muttering numerous curse words about your car.

Notes:

• The ford service part numbers listed as "Ford Legacy:" have been discontinued and are no longer avaliable. You must order the ford part number listed as "Ford:"
• Lugnuts are zinc coated to inhibit corrosion. This works good for the first few years of a car's life. But on older cars, you'll often find the lugnuts are rather rusty because the sacrificial zinc coating has been "used up" allowing the underlying metal to corrode.
• If you're converting your car from full sized hubcaps to the minature centercaps, you'll want to order 20 new shouldered lugnuts (4 wheels with 5 lugnuts per wheel).
  
• Technically you only need 12 new lugnuts to convert to centercaps (4 wheels with 3 new shouldered lugnuts per wheel and reuse 2 unshouldered lugnuts per wheel). But this is likely to result in missing centercaps after you have the wheels removed for routine maintenance, because your local repair shops won't place the lugnuts back in the proper order to hold the centercaps on.
• NAPA has incorrect application information for some of the crown victoria lugnuts listed above. But if you tell the napa parts counter person that you have a 2004 mercury marauder, you should be able to order any of the lugnuts listed above. Some napa parts counter people will let you order by part # without supplying any application information, but others will insist that you tell them which type of car you have first.
